Monday following FNSI

I enjoyed cutting the remaining slices of the Christmas Tree skirt. I started earlier in the day to make sure I was joining others. The colours are not true, more grey and cream. Hopefully it will go with their colour scheme. I also found some calico for the backing.
Sewing with my Singer 222 is always fun, the stitches are so neat.
Now to catch up with blogs. I wish I could remember how to add links to Wendy the lovely hostess of FNSI.

FNSI Two Weeks in a Row

I've still got a few blogs to visit and a few comments to reply to but the good news is I found my camera. Not particularly well hidden, just me not seeing. I have retaken the robin.
I didn't retake the hexagons as I've changed my mind, having laid out my choices. So on with a different project this evening. After doing the boring ironing after tea, I ironed the fabrics for a Christmas tree skirt for my son and his family. I found I had not cut out as much as I'd thought. So the rotary cutter will be my friend.

Friday Night With Friends

Well I did baste a lot of hexies for the outer ring of my first rosette from the Millefiore quilt. I can not find my camera, it is in the house I'm sure.
So just a very, very blurred photo from my ipad.
Earlier this year I was lucky enough to take a class with Shirley Bloomfield at a Traditional Quilters weekend retreat. We started a Robin Wreath needle turn applique. I have worked on it over the summer and now it is ready for quilting.
Again very blurred, although it looked fine on the ipad.
Shirley was an excellent teacher, very positive and encouraging.

Now I have time ( just back from my allotment) to see what everyone else was sewing, then I must find my camera.
A big thank you to Wendy at Sugarlane Designs for hosting a lovely time to sew with others around the world.

1 Christmas Item a Month Jan

Well the pot holder/mug rug rug was finished in the middle of January but before I could post a picture I was struck down with flu. It was very frustrating and I only started feeling well a week ago. So small steps. February's will be late, as I haven't thought about it yet.
It is not very square and the photo was taken quickly. I love using scraps. Any ideas for a quick make for this month?

B-10 Jud's Trophy FNSI

Lucky me got to sew for longer as the weather has kept me indoors. This has the tiniest pieces, I was scared I 'd sneeze and lose them.
The block is not wonky , my camera work is. There was also some unpicking as I got the print round the wrong way, twice.
I have at last sorted out out the next couple of blocks but need to finish the prep.

B9 Tinker Toy

A lovely fussy cut block, easy to hand sew.
Not the best photo though, it doesn't show the true colours. The weather has deteriorated to awful. Not looking forward to my walk.

B8 Water Lily

I forgot to post this earlier. I love this block, so pretty. I need to practice my applique though, it's pulled a bit on the background. This is before pressing.

It is raining and overcast, which means it feels colder. I need to refill the bird feeders. They have been very popular recently.

FNWF results

Friday evening. I managed to sew these pieces together, now to tack the melons for the corners. I had been good prepping the next few blocks but I couldn't resist sewing this easier block. It will look better when pressed.
Sunday afternoon. I have yet to visit other blogs, perhaps after tea, before ironing. I have been trying to cram reluctant imitation Christmas trees back into their boxes.
I hope to sew tomorrow as well. It was a cold walk round the block with the ice and frost not melting very much.

Dear Jane B5, B6, B7

Happy New Year.
I've not finished embellishing my crazy quilt block but needed some hand sewing over the holidays. I dug out Dear Jane. These blocks look better in real life than my poor photos on an overcast late afternoon.

Now to prep some more. I need to try some triangles, rather than leave them to the end.
Tomorrow if the weather improves I must work at my allotment. It has been sadly neglected whilst I suffered with THE head cold and Christmas.
